Do Your Thing...

Recently I have begun to feel quite left out as everybody seems to have a weekly 'thing' going on except me. For example, MJ has a whole wad of weekly 'things' such as Filthy Friday and Wenis Wednesday... and it is possible that she will soon have Tuned Up Tuesday [featuring highly strung instruments of an erect constitution] and Mopped Up Monday [a series highlighting the merits of the Dyson crevice attachment when used inappropriately with fluids]. And it's not only MJ who has a 'thing' or two... Mr Joey has Wardrobe Wednesday, where he gives us a flash of what's going on inside his closet; and Dave does this weird 'thing' every Sunday where he slaps pictures of score boards into his post and rambles on about leg-overs and cream teas - I haven't quite gotten my head around Dave's 'thing' yet, but I always try to do my best and leave a comment.
Anyhow, I want a weekly 'thing'. And a 'thing' is what I'm going to have. So on Friday I will be bringing you something new to get flushed about. I promise. And maybe, when I'm feeling better [been feeling ever so slightly mopey lately], I will get my head in gear and write another advert post...

  1. Something regular at your place would be a delight Miss Scarlet...

  3. Hello Miss Scarlet:
Now, surely, the logical conclusion to your argument must be that if everyone is doing his or her own thing, then to do absolutely nothing, and continue as before, is, ergo, to be doing your thing!

In the event, we shall wait for Friday.

  4. Jane and Lance Hattatt: Er... you raise an interesting point. I shall have to mull this over...
Anyhow, it is usual for me to give my regular commenters nicknames, but I have yet to think up something for you. Please note that if and when I do think of a nickname for you that I mean to give no offence.
The Hatts didn't seem refined enough, any ideas?

  5. How about having a dress down Friday? Or perhaps an up skirt Saturday?

  6. Mr Chairman: I think your ideas may over excite Dave, so maybe not.

  7. I now have weekends at the New Beau's... does that count as a weekly thing? I'm not sure what else to include. I'm pretty sure cleaning the litter box every other day doesn't count.

  8. I've been doing my thing with Basement Jaxx and am completely knackered.
    Aren't they great?

  9. You haven't been pestering those farm animals again have you doll?

The last 'thing' you were involved in is why you are still banned from the monkey enclosure at Whipsnade.

Can you no just display your collection of stamps or something safe for the love of all things holy?

  10. Hello Miss Scarlet:
We shall await your inspiration for our nicknames since our royal titles are really rather cumbersome!!

  11. Whatever you post is always a treat!

However, I am afraid to ask what my nickname might be.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Perhaps you could have nickname Friday whereby you confer a nickname on someone, they could be imaginary or real, and tell us what led to that particular creation.

I keep thinking I ought to do a 'thing' myself, if only to force me to post more regularly. I look forward to seeing what you come up with.

  13. I have always stubbornly refused to have a weekly 'thing' and no under-the-counter blandishments however lavish will persuade me otherwise. Even if offered by a gorgeous pouting Liz Hurley.

But I look forward to the Friday unveiling (if I can drag myself away from the increasingly extraordinary phone hacking scandal that is).

  14. Once a week is quite enough at my time of life. I shall look forward to Friday with breathless anticipation.

  15. Is Dave having an asthma attack?

You can look forward to Testicle Tuesday this week but in the meantime I'm continuing with Peggy Guggenheim's sunglasses.

    They're turning up everywhere!

  16. Howabout Festival Flange Friday followed by Legs Up Sally Saturday and finishing the theme with a Suduku Sunday?

  17. I for one don't think you have to do anything to follow the crowd. Just keep posting what you want to. I have toyed with the idea of a frolicksome friday, but it's never really gone anywhere.

  18. I think I was very restrained, in not mentioning your words: 'I haven't quite gotten my head around Dave's 'thing' yet'.

Don't worry, I don't think anyone else noticed.

  19. Ponita: You could have Loved-Up Sundays?

Pat: I have also been doing some foot tapping along to Basement Jaxx! They are certainly bouncy.

Mr Jimmy: There was a rampaging pig tearing around the farm last night, now you mention it! Nothing to do with me though. Honest.
    I will consider Philatelist Monday...

The Hattatts: How about The Top Hats?!

Mr Xl: You will always be Mr Extra Large.

Eryl: That's my idea... something that makes me post more regularly.
You nearly ended up as Ms Kitchen.

Nick: The phone hacking scandal should have its own Blog and Facebook page... I heard on the news that the investigators are now being investigated.

Dave: It's going to be good. Honest.

MJ: I have given Dave a brown paper bag to breathe into. He will be fine.
The Peggy Guggenheim's sunglasses should have their own meme.

Mitzi: I am unsure of this 'Suduku' of which you speak? The other two options will be considered.

Happyfrog: Tsk. Froggy is always frolicksome!

Dave: I think I was very restrained, in not mentioning your words: 'I haven't quite gotten my head around Dave's 'thing' yet'.

I think you were tired and still fretting about your plumbing!

  20. Is this the thing that's going to involve public toilets? Even better, will there be participation???
By the sounds of it I'm going to need all the Bachs Flower Remedy I can get....

  21. Sorry you've been feeling mopey. I'll look forward the the Friday flush.

I don't do things on particular days. ON Twitter I even do #followfriday on all sorts of other days like #followtuesday #becauseIfeellikeitthatswhy

  22. ...for one smile inducing moment I read Fellatio Monday instead of Philatelist Monday...

    Hey, it could work!

    ReplyDelete
  23. Do I qualify for a different nickname with this moniker?

    ReplyDelete
  24. Macy: If I don't get out of the compound then it may feature my toilet from several different angles...

Fairyhedgehog: Indeed! I often did Jukebox Monday on Sunday and sometimes Thursday.
There are not many themes for poor old Thursday.

Mr Jimmy: Or I could combine the two and have Stamp sucking Sunday?

Mr LX: Yes! You are now Mr Luxe.

  25. I've just realized I won't be here on Friday!

  26. I might be able to do The Friday Flush late Thursday or early Saturday. It would be highly appropriate for me to start a weekly series on the wrong day.

  28. It is only Wednesday! And I am not to be released from the compound until tomorrow!

I'll read it when I return from my holiday.

  30. Firstly, thank you for making me a member of your blue club. Do I get a badge?

I'm really looking forward to seeing your thing on Friday. :)

  31. Is it Friday yet?

    What's my nickname then?

    ReplyDelete
  32. MJ: Hopefully I will amass the necessary information today... or I might end up just sitting in the hour of sun that we're due today!

Mr Joey: I will be expecting your Blue Club subs by the end of the month.

Dave: Considering that your real title is Lord Percy, Duke of Lancester, then I believe that Dave is a suitable nick-name.

  34. Mr Mags: I had a very exciting day today... and it the thrall of it all I kind of forgot to take my pictures...

  37. 100 minutes 'till Friday and I'm getting all over excited with an.............ticipation

What will Scarlet's 'Friday thing' be? Is it publishable?!

I think it might be crappy.
